Gartner estimates worldwide sales of pc's to be showing 15,9 percent growth. This percentages has been lowered as earlier Gartner expected a sales growth of 18,1 percent in 2011. Cause: the rise of tablets and smartphones.

In total nearly 352,4 million pc's will be sold in 2010 as expected. In 2009 308,3 million have been sold. Regarding 2011 Gartner expects vendors to sell 409 million pc's.

According to Gartner specific topics have the attention of pc-vendors. Growth of the merging markets, lower spending limits and stronger competion from other emerging devices like tablets, because of their increasing functionality.
